it will be a lap throw... I have 3 huge skeins.. so it will be as big as they make it!

Can't wait to see it completed. Should be nice and snuggly.

I just got into crocheting about a year ago when my SIL sent my mom a double thick potholder.  They are the best potholder on the planet and I made lots.  Then I made a couple of scarves.  I finally went to the yarn mash up and found those cute Attic 24 birdies.  They are so adorable and springy.  I love making them.

The website I went to was www.mielkesfarm.com/diagonal_hotpad.htm  This was the first site that came up when I googled double think potholders.  Her instructions are great with good pictures.  The only thing I do different is to initially chain 40.  She only does 26 which makes a little potholder.  I like a big one about 7 inches square.  That size uses almost one whole skein of the 100% cotton sugar'n cream or peaches'n cream yarn.  I love to use the variegated and the striped ones.

I downloaded that potholder pattern, too - looks quick and substantial.  I wonder if I could do a knitted version?  Time to get out my cotton yarn stash - well, maybe not today, but soon!

those are like the ones my nana made me!she made the double thick onres and made thinner ones that were meant to be used as washcloths but my man kept/keeps using them as potholders (and then complains that he still feels a lot of heat from the baking dish!)

Just went to the yarn mashup and saw those fantastic round potholders.  They look like a challenge but the colors are all so yummy I have to try it.  Sugar n' Cream yarn on sale this week at Michaels.
