I'm a Vicksburger, but I had only managed to cut one background block until tonight. I just fused the eagle, so hopefully, I will have one block to show this weekend.

Dawn, It would be really awsome for me if you could post the next pattern today... I'm working in the quilt shop tomorrow and have access to fabric if I don't have what I need in my stash. hm

I'm at my daughters until Tuesday, but I can start planning in my mind if it is release before I get home to check my stash. I am excited about the next one, because piecing wool is going to be different.

Katie is all your background blocks wool too? I love wool applique and you can piece it.. just maybe not the thick felted stuff... hehe!

Well, I wasn't sure I could get the first two applique blocks done before Dawn posted the pieced blocks, but I did it. I was out of practice on applique and don't have much quilting time, but I'm pleased with how they turned out. Looking forward to the next blocks. Dawn says the pieced blocks will be stars that surround the eagle. That sounds really wonderful!

Sorry I couldn't get this posted any sooner but, block 3 is now available. To those of you who had trouble downloading etc. You just need to copy the instructions on this one. If I need to mail anyone let me know. Happy Sewing!!

Yes, 4 1/2" squares. That's why I have an editor. So sorry.

Thanks Dawn for the new pattern. Can't wait to get started. The hardest part is deciding on what fabric to use! There are so many possibilities! I had it in my mind to use the same background fabric throughout all the blocks, but now I'm not so sure. What will everyone else do??

I used the same background for all four pieced blocks, but I will have different backgrounds for all the applique blocks. I am hoping to use up a big stack of fat quarters for most of this quilt. Cindy

Cindy,
I am using the same background in all four of the pieced blocks but a different background for the applique ones. I have a lot of yardage of my applique background that I want to use up for this project. But you know, I probably won't even put a dent in it! I've got to stop buying so much! But what fun is that?

anyone doing a funky colorway for the blocks? Or using batiks or brights? Or a cottage soft group.. that would be very pretty wouldn't it!
