I LOVE the idea of log cabin blocks. I might just do a 2010 quilt. A slight delay in finishing up my 2009 calendar quilt ... I put "May" in upside down. Some fabrics were directional and the 2 little appliqued hearts for my wedding anniversary are upside down so I have to fix that.

2009 calendar quilt top is all done! Back is pieced and I may even get it quilted tomorrow. I have a photo to upload but right now I also have a cat sleeping on my lap and I can't reach the camera. He's so cute, I hate to wake him up.

I have been tempted by the Calendar quilt project. I hit on something I might do. I have been saving scraps from projects in tins (coookie and other) that I collect. I am overwhelmed with these tins. I might start sewing these scraps together each day. That would use them up and it would empty some of my tins. Yes! That's what I will do. Let's see it's the 5th so I'm off to sew 5 scraps together.

OK--one of my New Year's resolutions was to be MORE productive this year...oh yeah--and another was to clean up my sewing studio. So, taking part in this calendar quilt along will help me in both of these. YAY! I'm in. Now, I'm only 4 days behind, so I'll have to cut and sew 5 strips as soon as I get home. And I can add a special note to today's strip--first step in accomplishing not one, but TWO resolutions. LOL! Thanks for such a great site! Shawntel

Here's my 2009 calendar quilt. I put a few little appliques on it for different things - snow day, vacation cruise, and a few little socks - one for each pair of knitted socks. AND - my girl kitty who loves to hang out with me when I'm sewing or knitting. Yes ... she is a BIG girl!

Good Morning all, I'm about half way through my studio makeover, and I've got about 2 bushels of scraps that I can use for a calendar quilt, so even tho I'm getting a late start, it looks like a good 'user upper' quilt, so I'm in - but first I have to find a sewing machine under all that chaos... but there is FINALLY a FLOOR showing! check my blog for pics & progress reports.... http://theam-missingsamtoday.blogspot.com/("missingsamtoday" refers to my little dog who used to press the foot control on my sewing machine when he wanted attention.... he went to doggie heaven 4/15/08.) A scrap quilt is the only kind I could manage right now - the year is off to a busy start and there's way too much snow to shovel again today! theam

Hey! I love the selvege retrieval system. That is neato and you are brainiac to think of it. I might have to borrow it. Are there any sales going on now for tubs/totes?

Thanks, Sharon, it didn't work without the tubes at the back - that's essential. These selvages were from muslin - fyi YES - this is the time of year to buy storage tubs, bed linens, and towels... not that I need any, of course, but they make good wedding gifts to keep on hand just in case... IF you have storage space, of course, which I don't.
