Thanks for the kind words about my calendar quilt. If you haven't started one - do it! Mine was a sort of "bonus" quilt. I didn't put a lot of extras on it, a few, but not many. Basically, whenever I went into my sewing room (which is usually everyday) I'd add a strip from whatever I was working on. I did keep track on the quilt of completed hand-knit socks. In April, my dad died and I was away for several weeks. The hearts were from guild members. I used them in place of strips. A great way to use up some strips AND have a whole quilt at the end of the year!

I like that idea of adding extras to the calendar quilt. I have 6 strips out of my scrap tin (the first one that is). I smiled yesterday as I pulled out a left over from a log cabin tiger quilt I made for my DGS. He was 4. Now he is 14. It was a great quilt with snakes on either side of the tiger. Their mouth opened for love notes or little surprises. Once it was hung, I don't think DD ever put anything in their mouths. Thanks, Pat, for the memories.

Oh--a flickr group would be great to post our quilts as we go along! Our local quilt shop, run by a member of our guild, just celebrated it's 1 year anniversary yesterday. Many of us made "siggie" blocks for her to commemorate the occasion--I made two just alike so that I could use one in my calendar quilt to mark the special day!

I see the interest building! I might just have to do a 2010 quilt so that I can play too.

You've inspired us, Mary, with your beautiful quilt. And I have to say--your kitty helped, too. I have two of my own and they are my babies. I used to have one that looked almost exactly like yours, so yours tugged at my heart strings just a teensy bit.
