Last night we did pizza on the grill topped with Italian chicken breast, onions, green peppers, and mushrooms. We do most of our pizz on the grill to avoid the oven in the hot weather. It is really good, and very easy! Tonight it is grilled chicken, baked potatoes and roasted asparagus all on the grill. The calendar might say Fall is coming, but the thermometer tells a different story. We use the gas grill a lot to keep the heat outside.

Well, I'm making a beef pot pie tonight - sort of a homemade concoction - and I think I should invite lisapotpie over for dinner. :-)  My husband is away on an extended business trip and I wanted something tasty that would give me about five meals so I don't have to cook for the next few nights. While he's away, I want to use every moment for sewing and other creative projects that make the kind of mess that drives him nuts. LOL! You can see on my blog what kept me busy yesterday  .... ( http://alegacyofstitches.blogspot.com/2009/09/fall-arrives-and-i-am-feeling-wonderful.html )........ and also, the new project, Pat, that I am starting since "Star Blooms" is only about 12 inches of quilting away from being finished! I decided to put my "Farmer's Market" blocks away until after Christmas but I'll get them done eventually.

I am SO there for pot pies!!!  Just as a story...I got the nickname before I was eating and it just so happens I LOVE pot pies..turkey, chicken, beef, deer, elk I eat them all!  I have yet to make my own though, I might need to do that this winter

Tonight was a scraps dinner, I had left over lasagna, Regina had mac and cheese and "trees" with dip, The man had some grose combo of fridge contents and Hazel...is not on foods yet so she had the usual =)

Lisa,
I loved the story. Are "trees" broccoli?
If you want to try the simple pot pie I made tonight, I posted about it on my tea blog at http://teastitches.blogspot.com/
Some concoctions that I make sound better than they taste. This one tasted even better than it sounded. :-)

Believe it or not, you put the pizza right on the grill. Roll out your dough on a piece of parchment paper, brush the top with a little olive oil. Plop that baby on to a HOT grill, lower the heat a litttle, peel off the parchment paper and lower the lid. Let it cook  a few minutes, till bottom is browned. Remove from grill and put sauce and toppings on cooked side. Back to the grill for a few minutes to melt the cheese and cook the crust. It takes about 8 minutes of total cooking time. The outside of the crust is crispy and the inside is soft. Absolutely the best pizza I have ever had! I had my doubts in the beginning, but we looked up several videos on youtube and decided to try it. I do precook the veggies a litle cuz they are too crisp for us if I don't.

Well Pat, when I got home from work early (6:00) cause the last client cancelled, DH had the makings of bacon potatoe pancakes. It is a dish I fell in love with while visiting son in Seattle. I ordered it at the Silver Creek Cafe one morning and I couldn't wait to go back and have it again. DH rmembered this and tried to duplicate it. Close but not exactly. He will refine his version on the next time try.
