I just got some tumbler charms and muslin ones in the same size to use for foundations I fell in love with that selvage tumbler quilt on the blog you showed us. They are batik charms so I am going to try to use some of my brighter selvages with them. I will show some pictures when I have some progress.

Hi: I've just joined Quilt Mashup. Hope this is where I am supposed to introduce myself! I learned of this forum, Pat, from Karen Griska's selvage.blog.blogspot. I am with so many others who have said they would never save selvages: there are just too many other quilts and projects to make. But I began, and then I made some pin cushions and pot holders to donate to a local library Holiday Sale. Lots of fun! I'd like to make a zinger selvage quilt, tho will have to start slowly since I don't have a large fabric collection. I look forward to reading all the posts. KathleenC

I had the pics done yesterday but couldn't get to the computer to upload (Child was using it). Okay I know this doesn't qualify as a Red Zinger but I think it definitely qualifies as a zinger zinger... very bright... These are the tumbler charms and I have already pinned the pieces of selvage to the muslin (the pile in the lower left corner) Here are all of the tumblers sewn and trimmed and layed out. The left over blocks I cut in half to make the side pieces the make the whole thing rectangular. I am going to piece it all together today hopefully. I will show a pic when it is finished. After the center is done I am going to add a few borders and I might continue to make it bedsize.

Love the zinger zinger!!! I am going to a scrap-in on 28th and they die cut our fabric for us and we sew the pieces together all day. This is definitely something I will do at one of the classes - not enough time to get it together by then. Will be doing 3" finished half-square triangles in burgundy and ivory for a top. Thanks for sharing! Karen

i've collected some more selvages here... cutting big yardge to piece the backing of a 110 x 110 quilt...
question... will you make the selvages scrappy or do you co-ordinate the fabric colors?

In the one I made (yes, I finished piecing it today but didn't get a pic yet) I co-ordinated the fabrics on the selvage... I thought it would look best with the scrappy batiks but if I did a red zinger with the same background for all I would definitely mix it up.

Eclipsedred, Did you sew the selvages on the muslin and then cut them out with a die cutter? I am hoping to do that and have them cut with the professional Accu Cut at the shop I go to. It is a great idea! Karen
