Hi Karen... no I didn't use a die cutter. I don't have one Smiley I just lined my ruler up with the muslin and rotary cut them... That is why you see some of them have pointy corners while the charms have rounded corners Smiley I got tired of cutting the corners and it wasn't really necessary Smiley Also if you plan on using foundations remember that which ever side you start your selvage on you want to place it approximately 1/4 inch up so that when you sew yourpieces together you don't cut off your pretty selvage. I just eyeballed it and it turned out fine.

Those look really fun and I'm going to try and make a few for tweens at the craft show. I gave away all my selvages so I will have to find some fabric with words I can use. LOL  Cheesy

Hi Eclipsedred,
Thanks for the hint about the edges!  Will remember that.  Can't wait to make one of them.

Here it is... it doesn't know what it wants to be when it grows up yet so this is just the center... and I love that ornament!

Your tumbler zinger has great eye-catching appeal!

I've a question or comment:
I've been cutting only 1" from the outer edge of the selvage which gives about 1/2" of fabric with the selvage. This has worked for the selvage pincushions and potholders I've recently made. And I made a Cat Mat (inspired by the one at Karen Griska's selvage blog, I think made by Gail Mitchell) with only white showing, no colored fabric.

Am I right in thinking that I should cut more fabric with the selvage for a zinger quilt? I guess it can be done any way I want, lots of color or not, but I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions or comments. I will gradually be going through my fabrics to cut selvages, so I'm planning ahead.

Maybe you want to try a sample with more.. you have already with less.. and see what appeals to you.  I'm not sure how mine will be but I do know it will have color and the strips will be slightly different as I'm not going to measure exact.... cuz that's the way I am.. hehe!
