I've been adding in selvage strips here and there to my calendar quilt project, but it's amazing how my collection basket of selvages has filled up ~ it's definitely addictive!!

I love this quilt! Not sure I have enough selvage. How many strips is that gonna be?!? And how long are the strips? I don't know, this looks a lot like buy a lot for a little for this quilter. . .We'll have to see how the game plays out Smiley Maybe my sister and I can do ONE together. Maybe she can just make ME one Smiley She buys more than me. One way to get her over here chatting, eh!

Okay, I'll be back later once coffee kicks in and Pat reveals a bit more of this obsessive plan! Grin

Collecting selvages can be addicting. I started this spring and then had enough to make a tote bag at the end of summer. Check out the picture at flickr in Pat Sloan's group: Quilted Project Photos.

LOVE your tote.. I saw one in person this summer when I did a lecture.

question... it looks like we should keep ones with mostly words and dots.. the all white ones are not so cute in the project me thinks!

AND... I'm thinking on doing a swap of a FQ for Selvages... for those who need some or need variety.. what do you think of that idea?

I'm in the no selvages boat too!
Darn!
I do love that purse though!
mmmm... how long will it take me to collect that many selvages???
I'll have to ask my quilt guild buddies on saturday to save them for me.
that might make things go a little faster.

I say "Oh YEAH"! I have lots of selvages.......how long do you think it will take me to unfold all of my fq's and cut off the selvages?  I do believe that this has the marks of obsessive behavior written all over it. The tote bags and purses I have seen are to die for.  Why didn't we think of this sooner?

How wide are the selvages cut?  I usually do 1/2 inch but sometimes do 3/4" but hate to lose too much of the fabric!  Maybe 1" is best to allow for sewing!
