If I squeal and jump up and down I will hurt myself, but "diamonds in the rough" is both a great name and lovely quilt! Smiley

I got the camera ready for taping the squealing and jumping, and he is just sitting there laughing.

No relation that we know of.  But I will be happy to adopt Pat as an honorary sister-in-law.  Maybe that would keep me from being sentenced to latrine duty. Smiley

*blows camp whistle*  Stitch!  Time's a wastin'!~

Off to look at pictures. Smiley

Well, I finally got a layout I am pleased with - still have lots of strip triangles and squares to make another and play around with.  The blue triangles have little black to dark gray dots all over them.  Will add a blue thin border with strips cut 2 1/2" for next border and then the blue Kaffe flower for wider border (width depends on how much fabric I left)!

This one is mostly blue and the next will be mostly red!

At least I have a good start but now it is time to teach DH how to make spaghetti sause with ground beef and Italian sausages.  Kids are due in 2 hours and he will cool the pasta when we are ready to eat.

I am puting the photo here and in Flickr.

Oooh-wee!  Diamonds in the Rough is great!!  What a wonderful job you did!

I didn't do anything that large.  Instead I used parts of a 3 Sisters Shangri-La jelly roll and combined that with a dusty red TOT dot and a butter cream print.

The red TOT was used with the darker prints (primarily dark brown) and the butter cream was used with lighter tones from the jelly roll.

I made 16 blocks of each and set them 4 by 4 in an 8-pointed star design (I'm hung up on stars).

The red TOT became the star points in the first quilt and the light strips became the star points in the second.

They turned out totally different.  The brown/red one was rich and DH says it's his favorite.  Reminds me of Christmas and chocolate.

The other (my favorite) screams SPRING!!

I'm amazed that I got two totally different views using the same pattern and the same fabric line.  Made me think of how Pat uses the same pattern for 2 different looks.

I'm totally pleased with both but won't be doing much today because I've got to watch my Saints in the Super Bowl.  First things first ladies!!  I made ham/egg/cheese croissants for breakfast, DH cooked fish, hush puppies & fries for dinner and is putting a chicken on his smoker for supper.  Think he's a keeper!!

GEAUX SAINTS!!!   Cheesy

Back from helping DH and the HUGE sale at my local LQS...couldn't have stirred the people there with a stick! I was good though, bought backing fabrics and a few yards that I just had to have:)) Stood in line for over 30 minutes, my arms holding a heap of bolts! Then I waited a bit and went back to get fabric for a Quilts 4 kids quilt.  Don't tell hubby but I didn't get all I wanted so I can go back in a couple of days.  Now fixing Super Bowl Chili and sewing, sewing, sewing!

oh sure.. the counselor is sucking up to the Camp Leader now!!!  Happy to be honorary SIL... Cindy already made me her 'big sis'... hehe!

Fabulous Karen... love it!!!

Lisa I LOVE hushpuppies.. send some here! And I can't WAIT to see your quilts!

I think many of you will be getting to your parties... with or without friends.... I tell people that Super Bowl sunday should be a holiday cuz we all have such a good party even if we don't watch the game!  My party was cancelled... so having pizza here.. woot!

And if you watch the commercials (the whole REASON I watch)... someone announce we 'may' see Hell freeze over as Goggle MAY run their very first TV advertisement!! Hard to image they never have!!!!

off to see what kind of UFO I can finish tonight that is NOT machine quilting.. maybe I'll baste something up!!!

And if you watch the commercials (the whole REASON I watch)...

It's the only reason I watch too.  I'll sit here and happily sew while I wait for commercial time.

P.S.  Karen...I love your quilt!  It's very tropical looking.  Makes me want to being lying on a warm beach somewhere sunning myself.

Psst...that other counselor is being bad.  He is trying to butter up the camp leader!

We had to run out for a few errands.  I got all my blocks pressed and trimmed.  I still hope to get my top together tonight.  We will go out to dinner soon, but then we will be back.
