I decided to just start working on the quilt and to stop sweating the small stuff.
Eventually, it will all work out. Right???
Anyway, the basketball game turned out to be great, at least for Syracuse, and as it turns out, my dear daughter camped out for three days to get a good seat.  The school finally had to open up the Dome to let the student s sleep inside since they were in the middle of several blizzards over the past few days. She ended up in the front row, but I never did catch a glimpse of her on TV. Oh, to be young again!!!

I just walked out to the mailbox and there was a big manila envelope......the Black and White Challenge kit!! Love the polka dot. The dots are bigger than I expected and I like that! Love that goldie yellow fabric with the birds. Upon seeing the fabric, my original idea (Idea #1) has changed. I am now on Idea #2 but might end up like Renita with 3 or 4 ideas before I finally get one that works. I have just one question......I have read in the guielines that we must use all of the fabric, rick-rack and buttons in the kit but are we allowed to add fabrics? If we can't add fabrics, it will mean that Idea #2 is out and I will have to come up with Idea #3. :-)

Sandi, I believe we need to use some of all of the fabrics included in the kit and then we can add to that with whatever we want.  (At least, that is the way I interpretted the instructions and I will have a lot of "unsewing" to do if I am wrong.)

You have to use SOME of EVERYTHING in the package but the postcard or tags (which ever you got).. those are optional...

You don't have to use ALL the kit but do have to use some of each fabric, some rick rack and some buttons!!!

you will need to add more fabric!

can't WAIT to see what starts spouting!

I've not had any kit orders for a few days.. so I measure out what was left of the Black Dots and the yellow birds.

There are 2 yds of black dots and 1 yd of yellow birds now in the store if you want to add some to your project!

Have you been reading my mind? I love that picture. Where did you find it? I came up with next to nothing when I googled free Paris pictures. Come on, give! Grin

I have made a rough sketch (an sketcher I'm not!) of approx how I want this to look. But I am afraid to cut into my challenge fabric. My quilt making process is a lot of hit and miss, see what works and rip. rip, rip. I almost feel like I need to make a muslin first  Grin  My design wall gets quite a workout when I make a quilt, and I have a large stash of orphan blocks and bits and pieces that don't make the cut in that quilt.

I guess I need to be brave, and just bite the bullet and CUT. Good to know you have a bit of the challenge fabric left. Ok, I'm off to my studio to stretch my horizons and techniques, it is good to push myself to try new things.

Wish me luck!

I used Google, Yahoo, and Bing to search Paris Images and found thousands!!!!  You can limit search to Eiffel, Louvre, etc.
