I'm catching up on allthe posts on the forum over the weekend. I just got back froma FABULOUS four day quilting retreat sponsored by my LQS Ivy Thimble. SOOO much fun! met lots of new people and go 2 quilt tops done (well almost). Also we made walker bags for the hospital, made a quick tote bag for fun, and ate a lot! Will have to download pics of my quilts later on. Now I am off to have dinner with the fam, and catch up with what they did all weekend.

ALICE was great, Pat. You have to go and take a youngster or a youngster at heart. DD was never an Alice fan so she was particulary grateful that I took DGD. I would miss some of the dialog and ask Paige but she didn't hear it either. So i didn't feel so bad. Anyway, I love the double puns (?). The characters were great. Then the costumes were terrific. I always wondered how Alice's clothes shrank and expanded with her eating this and drinking this. I loved how they handled that. Go see it, you won't regret it.

Thanks for the report!! I'm scheduled to go with my step mom.. just have to wait for her to get back in town!

the book is really more adult than child oriented... it's so deep with double meanings you have to read it close and enjoy!

I'll match your zillion and up you a 1/2 zillion....I have a day off by myself and I'm not telling anyone...except you guys <GG> On the list housework...been neglecting too long....finish a quilt with a deadline....get outside a bit, the sun is shining, and and and and and the other zillion things that get put off when you work away from home. This is the first time I've checked the forum in weeks so I'm having a cuppa coffee and then hitting the list.
I sooooo needed this day, I hope everyone has a beautiful day.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all.  Somehow it seems wrong to work on a Parisian quilt today.  Maybe I will add a green element in honor of the day.
I didn't marry an Irishman, but both my great grandparents came from Ireland and up until my generation, no one in the family would think of marrying anyone other than another Irish person.
My father used to do the marble work on the altars in the churches in NYC and most of the marble union at the time was Irish.  My mother would dye all of my fathers clothers green, even his underwear, handkerchiefs and socks!

Happy St. Patricks Day to you too!

LOL... dyeing your Dad's cloths!   That's a bit extreme!

I have my shamrock earrings on and heading out to run errands

traditional corned beef cabbage and potatoes for dinner here tonight!

I'm Irish on my Mom's side (Reilly)... the original name was Rahilly... changed at Ellis Island when the great great grandparents came over.  I have a copy of a birth certificate of a great great great grandparent who was listed as a boatman on Lake Kilarny!  My parents and other relatives have been over and found the church and family records... the Irish churches were good at that... and traced back multiple generations!
