For the "giveaway" image I think of a brightly wrapped present!  And for the "winner"...for some reason I see a little explosion of stars, streamers, confetti...stuff like that.  Not sure why...maybe it's b/c I'm at work and counting down the hours until I can go home for the long Labor Day weekend.  LOL   Grin

Here is my housewarming door hanging for my sister. It's long and heavy! I sewed the sleeve on crooked and will have to fix that.
I used Pat's binding on the front technique. I could because this quilt is skinny.  I do NOT have the reverse function , Pat. My machine is old, no computer, no whistles. But it works for me for now. I do like how the finished edge looks - I used a turquoise thread so it blends in pretty good.
I actually 'cheated' with the binding and simply folded the backing over twice and pinned. I can't FIND the fabric I had leftover from doing the backing and borders so I guess this was a good fix too! Smiley
Hoping to get to more quilting this weekend. The storms on the east coast are sending us rain and cool temps. Or at least we have rain and cool temps. People have sweaters on! It reminds me that the count down to snow and Christmas is not far away!
Enjoy your laptop outside Pat! Smiley

ps. I'm still thinking about my fav celeb, too many to count today Cheesy I may just have to 'settle' for one Wink

Love the Houses!!

Please send some coolness to Tucson - we are still in the 100s - won't get below 70 until Halloween or after!  Why do I live here?  I often ask myself that and then remember, "oh ya, my DH is here!"  Wouldn't live anywhere without him!

We did get a "squal" yesterday afternoon - (Google it) and had over 1/2" of rain in about 30 minutes.  It was lovely - dropped temp by 20 degrees from 102 to 82 at my house but then warmed up by 7:00pm.  That's the desert for you.

In the meantime, I am staying cool in my house with A/C and fans going.  Off to the quilt studio to get started on the Lucky Charm!

Sarah I love the houses! Glad the binding worked for you... dang on no reverse but you can do a baby quilt I bet.

Karen you are funny... bet it does not rain much around you!

I so love a splendid summer day... NOT looking forward to cool or cold... hanging onto this as long as I can!

So far we have received 5+ inches since June 15 and we are .5 inches ahead!  We usually get about 10 inches in a year!  Great place to be in the winter - just ask all the snow birds who start arriving in late October!  By mid April they are "outa here" for cooler places.

We know the seasons are changing (we have 2)  Cry by the out of state license plates!! here or gone!  Roll Eyes

LOL! My mom goes down to Yuma.. as far as south as she can get.. her husband stays most of the year in MT.. she would move permanent but can't convince him yet!

sooo..... gonna pull some weeds today (I think) and some more work until maybe 3pm... think I might stop then and sew a bit before we go out for the evening!

anyone having a picnic this weekend? Or BBQ? I just love those!

What would YOU do...

ARRRGGHH help me! I am sorting my 12 yr olds desk out in prep for school starting. It would be a LOT easier if she were not here saying "NOOO don't throw THAT away!"
LOL! A little more of this and then I can take a quilting break.
