We watched the Hurt Locker last night. Very good movie and interesting. Didn't think it was really any better than any other "personal life" type movie though. Jeremy Renner did do a great job.

I want to see the movie "CrazyHeart" with Jeff Bridges. I haven't been to a movie since December of 2005. Wow....I knew things had been busy here but until I wrote that, I didn't realize how long it's been since I was inside a theatre. I think I need to fix that. Going to be watching the Oscars tonight. That's an event I almost never miss! I wish had some theatre popcorn to go with it. :-)

I was disappointed that Avitar didn't make more wins at the Oscars. I guess the box office really tells the story. Anyway, I plan to see Alice maybe with DGD. DH won't take me although he took DGS to the movied (The Craxies) which was one scarey thing after another. Nope not me. I don't pay to be scared. I did get to see Avitar, but I doubt I'll see the Hurt Locker or any of the others. I might get to see Julie and Julia on TV sometime. It sounds like fun. I thought the dresses were beautiful. All of them, althought some of them were out there.

my dh went to see Alice over the weekend (took our grand d) and when I told him I wanted to see it, he said "No problem - I want to see it a couple more times!"
This is from a guy who NEVER wants to pay to see a movie twice! Musta been REALLY good!

I saw Julie & Julia. My MIL and I went to see it when it hit the $1 theatre. I go to the movies maybe half a dozen times a year and then usually to the $1 theatre which is really the $1.99 theatre. I just can't see paying close to $10 to watch an "unknown"...I keep thinking...that's a yard of fabric!! LOL Anyway--it was good, even though I've never been a fan of Julia Childs. I really enjoy cooking, so that's what made me want to see the movie. Meryl Streep nailed Julia, in my opinion. It's definitely worth watching.

I want to see the Blind Side since the actress won best over Meryl.

It's how a TN wife of a football coach reaches out to a black young man who has been shruffled from foster home to foster home. She takes him in to her home (remember this is in the South) and the whole family adopts him. This is based on a true story and as I hear it, the guy plays now for the NFL. I really want to see it. I'm not going to the Hurt Locker no matter what. I support the troops, but I can't do war scenes.

The Blind Side is indeed a true story and Michael Oher plays for the Baltimore Ravens. My hair dresser is a friend of the "mother's sister" and says it is very real. Michael is not that happy with the man who played the role but said he didn't have any say in it.
You can go to the web site of each of the movies to check them out. John and I go to 2-3 movies a year an only pay Senior rates (1/2 price) and I get my small popcorn!! Some theaters also have senior days - Monday for us.

I'm with you Sharon - the last war movie I went to was "Black Hawk Down" and it was just too much for me - I had to leave the theater - so gory! But the Oscars don't usually impress me - years ago there was a movie that all the critics raved about and I thought it was disgusting. Still, I'm really looking for'wd to seeing ALICE - and I grew up thinking that Julia Child was a weird lady with a funny voice, but I LOVED Julie-Julia - it was the best food movie EVER!!

Yeah, I grew up thinking that Julia was a total weirdo! But through the movie you get to see that she really had such a wonderful sense of humor! And if it holds true to her life, then she and her husband shared a wonderful marriage--very supportive and loving. I agree, Thea--best food movie I've seen in forever!
